The decaffeination process always involves some degree of rinsing the coffee. This results in flavors more muted than in their caffeinated counter parts. But our decafs are not the flavorless shadows of coffee some people are used to. Aurora takes pride in offering decafs so tasty that people often refuse to believe they are actually decaf.
DECAF HOUSE BLEND Our daily brew is rich and full bodied with just enough sweet acidity to make it feel lively on the palate. The flavor is slightly smoky and hints of bittersweet chocolate.
DECAF MEXICO ORGANIC The new crop of our favorite summer coffee has just arrived! This organic coffee is grown by the La Trinidad co-op in the Pluma region of Oaxaca, Mexico. The several hundred farms that comprise this co-op share a preference for typica, the flavorful heirloom variety of coffee that grows best at elevations over 4,000 feet. The 2002 crop possesses a richer flavor than previous years, with an aroma reminiscent of apple blossoms. A delicious coffee that is perfect for our sultry summer weather.
KENYA DECAF The aroma is lush and complex with hints of black currant and leather. The first thing you notice when you taste it is a grapefruity acidity. This coffee sparkles dryly in your mouth. Next you'll discover its full body, cassis-like flavor and lingering dry aftertaste.
SUMATRA DECAF It is smooth and full-bodied with an aroma of nuts and dried herbs. Press it and drink it black to discover an earthiness reminiscent of wild mushrooms.
TWILIGHT BLEND HALF-CAF A satisfying well-balanced, half-caffeinated blend of Central American and Indonesian coffees. Full bodied with a spicy aroma, it makes a perfect after dinner coffee.
